In Wilmington, I am known for my affiliation with the rescue world. In Brunswick county I am known for my affiliation with Adam’s Folly. I have always tried to keep the two separate. In 2009, my husband and I scraped up $800,000 to buy Adam's Folly. When Paul from Zeetlegoo’s asked me why I bought it, I answered, "It had gone up for sale and we had been keeping some homeless animals here. I worried the program would stop, so we bought it to save the program for the rescue I was with." He said, well that’s an interesting reason to buy a business.

For the last 16 years, we kept quiet about how involved Adam’s Folly was in the rescue world. We worried people would dump animals on us if they knew how much we loved them. Thousands of homeless animals have laid their heads here when they needed a place to stay. It’s time for Adam’s Folly to come out of the shadows. We have been fostering many of the pets you see at local adoption fairs or in pet stores. We even helped fundraise and helped found the local spay/neuter clinic.

I have the absolute best clients in the world. They are all pet lovers. They come back for them and pay me to pick them up. Sometimes, a lot of money—proving how much they are loved. When I first landed this place, I was shocked to see people care about their pets having been so involved in rescue. Sometimes it feels weird to have my foot in both the homeless pet world and the loved pet world at the same time. We will play with the homeless dog who never looks for someone to pick them up. After not getting chosen at adoption fairs, they run into the kennel like they are home dancing with joy. Meanwhile, the loved pet will always look at the car pulling up—“is it my mom or dad?” they ask. I have always asked, how do I get people like my clients to adopt these homeless dogs? How do I reach them? How can I touch them? Over the years, some of our regulars began to figure out what we were doing. They saw us pull in and out with the van on Saturdays heading to Wilmington for adoption fairs. A good bit became huge supporters of the rescue group we fostered under and we are forever grateful for all of their help over the years

With over 2000 customers now, I would like to build a community highlighting all the LOVED pets we care for and highlighting some of our homeless ones too—-in hopes that maybe one of you might open your home, your heart to a homeless one along the way. You will meet our incredible staff doing incredible things. They are very skilled at what they do and I am in awe watching them sometimes. We know all these dogs, all their quirks, their owners and even the cars they pull up in. Some come and go so frequently, we wonder if they are ours. It’s a fun place and when you are sad, you always have a doggie to cheer you up. See Thera below if you don’t believe me. Kind of interesting that in 2025, I am right back to my roots once again—I build this community not to drum up business, but just on the chance that one of you amazing animal lovers I know might be here boarding your pet and help me find a homeless pet a home.

I bought this place to take care of animals, some have owners and some don’t. So welcome to Adam’s Folly.

Please click https://aps.brunswicksheriff.com/ to view the homeless animals at our local Brunswick Animal Shelter and help us find them homes. It haunts me to see they don't have owners who love them. All we need to do is find them someone who will love them. If you adopt one, present the paperwork, and I will give you two night's free boarding.
